Like the title says folks, where do I start, what do I look for ??

I'm trying to troubleshoot my VERY notchy MTX. It has 54+K on it right now. Tranny fluid was replaced under warranty @ ~30K, just under two years ago. They didn't use the new stuff. I did the tranny cocktail myself a few weeks ago. There has been no improvement, maybe a slight disimprovement.

Most of the time it feels like it's catching especially going into 1st, 1st to 2nd & 3rd to 2nd. I find if I hold the stick tight to the left of the gate (close to me) it goes in a little easier. Going 3rd to 4th and vice versa, I notice a strong resistance right before it goes into gear. No grinding, graunching etc, just a resistance.

Car has pretty much been like this since I bought it at 19k.
