My air bag indicator flashed a DTC 53 tonite and when I shut the car off and started it up again, the DTC was gone. Is this normal? I know the code is telling me something, but I can't seem to find the definition in my Chilton's book. Does anyone know what "5-3" means and if it's normal for the code to only cycle through until the vehicle is shut off? I was fixing (securing) the upper footwell panel on the passenger's side today and might have jarred some wires or something. I know the diagnostic monitor and safing sensor are located in that vicinity, but I don't think I moved any wires. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!
