Paintball guns use CO2. Its still compressed air, just compressed, non-flammable air.
I see one other problem though. If the vehicle was say, turboed, the entire intake would be under pressure, with nowhere for it to go, except through the engine. With this idea, the pressure is being introduced in one area. The new air will go both ways down the intake, until it hits something (TB/Valves) or escapes. You would be cooling the intake charge, but I doubt you would be building any pressure. It would all escape outside.
I wouldn't use pure oxygen for this experiment either. The engine was not set up for pure oxygen coming into it. You would more then likely confuse your computer, and would be creating a much more violent explosion then normal that would be almost uncontrolled.
If you are intrested in putting something into the intake, under pressure, that would also have the ability to cool it slightly, but make more power, you would now be talking about N20. hehe, nitrous.
