I'm considering dual exhaust on my 99 SE V6 Contour. The Yodude SVT Exhaust sounds like a deal and I'm looking for hp gains but some say it's loud and others say it's not that loud. Any other opinions on the system and which muffler is the quietest(Flowmaster, Magnaflow or Dynomax)

I just worked on a '98 SE yesterday that has YoDude cat-back and BAT intake on. It doesn't sound very loud at all, probably because I have the Brullen bombing my ears everyday. The piping looks very nice though. I think it only comes with one single resonator with no muffler. Tips looks quite similar to those on Mustang GT's.

Yeah, I got some bolt-ons.

Sound quality and volume depends largely on the muffler choice. The Dynomax and the Magnaflow mufflers have a nice burble to them, both inside and outside the car. The Flowmaster... sounds like a flowmaster. It's got a louder, hollow growl on the outside, and a mind-numbing drone inside the car.

You'd have to speak to the Yodude people about that. They say they haven't dynoed the setup yet on the Contour, as of about two weeks ago. Maybe they have by now. This is a fairly new system, at least for the Contour, so there aren't a whole lot of these installed yet. Maybe someone with a Cougar can be of more help.

On the Cougar, the gain was 8.4hp with the flowmaster muffler. It would have probably been even more with the Magnaflow or Ultra Flo.

I have a large-case Dynomax ultra flo with headers and no cats... sweet sound, and it runs 16 seconds flat with an automatic vs. 17.x stock.

as of now, we still have not been able to dyno the kit for the contour yet. the HP listed above is pretty accurate for the cougar. we got 8.1 from our cougar and i think i recall someone with an 8.4 or 8.9 (somewhere in there). we expect the contour to be pretty close to this.

when we do get a dyno, ill also try to get some pics under the car, and some sound clips. i hate to say it, but as of now, i dont know when we will be doing the dyno. im aiming for within a month. (crossing fingers). until then, maybe someone else will be able to shoot us some numbers.

have a great day guys.
PS, we'll be using an SVT for the dyno, which will most likly differ from the SE, obtaining SE numbers may take awhile. frown

I'd be glad to dyno my SE, but there's one thing stopping me. That would be the fact that I live on a friggin island, isolated in the middle of nowhere, and in order to dyno, it would cost me a whole crap load of cash. Bleh.. i've got an ATX.. oh well. But i can say that the gains are very impressive. I've got a 300lb+ stereo system in my trunk, and my car runs a lot faster than it did without the stereo, and being stock. I've got the sho shop CAI also. That's basically all the mods i've got. I'm looking into the Ypipe mod, and mystery mod.
