What about going to 225/45/16. Smaller sidewall with less of a chance of rubbing? A 3.6% difference as your overall tire will be smaller in size.

The 225/50/16 is almost dead on the 205/55 size though.

wan't someone saying that up to a 9" section width tire could fit under there?

although the 225 series are bigger tread the sidewall is included in section width - which is what rubs...

what's that max section width?

I hear ya on section width, I don't think the issue is with the fronts, but with the rear.

I rubbed the liner with 225/45/17 on stock height, and I have a 99!

Remember, the cross section would be the same BUT the overall height would be smaller. With less height you can allow the suspension to move more which will help with the rubbing in the rear. Allows for more travel up & down, ya know?

I have had 225-50-16 KDW on my 99 SVT with stock wheels for about three months now...no issues at all, although I understand the slightly larger diameter of the tires will make the speedo read about 2.5 - 3% slow.

225/50/16 Fulda Extremo tires on stock E0 wheels lowered with Leda Sport Springs. Rubbed a little on the back passenger side inner fender liner. Rubbed a hole in it until it didn't rub anymore

Also with the 215 KDW's, my speedo was about 5 mph fast @ 60 mph, but with the 225's it is dead on.

They fill up the wheels wells much better than the 215/50/16 KDW's.

I'll be replacing them with 225's from here on out.

My apoligies if this posted twice.

I have 225/50R16 BF Goodrich g Force KDWS. The fit is close but adequate. This an an unusual tire in that it is a four season Z rated tire. It is much quieter than the KDW. I'm pleased with it.

Before the KDWS, I had H rated Continentals of the same size. The fit provided slightly more clearance and the tires wore well, but the car did not handle nearly as well as it does with the KDWS or the original Goodyear GS-C.

I kinda got stuck with some 225/55 on stock svt wheels, WAY TO WIDE, Don't go with 55's for sure, my rear wheels are rubbin on my rear strut towers to the point there is no paint left on a certain part of them and a nice soft spot on the wheels. IM GONNA DIE~
