I was reading up on some treads regarding the tranny cocktail, and I was interested in doing this. However, I called Ford yesterday to get a price on the "Ford Friction Modifier # C8A2-19B546-A" and the dealer told me they don't make that anymore. Something to do with the fact it was made from the fat or oil from a whale's brain. But he said they make a synthetic (Ford Friction Modifier #XL3) that does the same thing.

Has anyone made the tranny cocktail using this? Plus, I'm having a hard time locating Mobil 1 synthetic ATF fluid.....Any comments or suggetions to either of my questions?????

If worse comes to worse, you can order Mobil 1 ATF from www.mobil1.com

I don't know about Mobil or the new synthetic, but yesterday I switched to ATF 3 in the Mystique MTX. I don't know what the long term effect will be, but in the short term, I love it. Smooth and easy.....

What about using the XT-M5-QS from Ford? Your dealer should be able to get this with no problem.

That's what the dealer supposedly put in when they replaced my transmission.. either it doesn't work or they put the regular fluid in.. cause it still shifted like crap.

Shifting problem fixed with tranny cocktail AND pressure bleeding the clutch (manual method didn't help much for some reason).

Anyway, that's what worked for me

Except they charge $15+ per quart for a semi-synthetic when you can get Mobil 1 for $5 a quart and it's a full synthetic.

Either fluid will need 2oz of Ford FM as well...
