Driving in to work this AM, tailgating in the left-lane and I glance down at the instrument cluster to find the needles spinning like compasses in the Bermuda triangle. All warning lights glowing like a Christmas tree! Figure I can't drive and stare at the dash, but car's still running fine, so I keep driving. Next time I look down at the cluster, all is back to normal. Bizarre. Anyone else had this happen?? Any idea what it could be? My car's way of telling me it's had it??? Anyone else see the new Saturn commercials?? "YOU NEED A NEW CAR"...

I know on the Cougar if that happens that means electricity was interupted. All my lights come one and the needles sweep back and forth (self test). This happened to me 3 times before my alternator died on me. I attributed it to my alternator cutting out and my battery getting low. No problems since I got my new alternator. Might want to get your battery/alternator tested.

This kind of thing happens to mine too. I lose the speedo and the gas gauge. One good Fonzie-style whack of the dash always fixes it. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyy!

I've had this happen a couple of times on my '98 at expressway speed but not this year. Speedo drops to zero then back to proper speeed, low fuel light comes on, no affects on engine. Goes away within a minute. I presume it's a loose connection behind gauges but intermittents are hard to track, so I've never tried.

Actually, can I get a clarification, Big Jim?? Are you suggesting that I need a priest to EXORCISE any demonic force my car may be harboring, or a priest to amnister the LAST RITES to my car????? Last rites - NOW THAT'S THE TICKET!
