well, like the title says, why don't i have one.i never realized i didn't have one until it was pointed out to me . i was reading in my haynes manual under front valve cover removal and it said remove intake manifold runner control actuater if equipped. was mine ever equipped with it? if i got one off a newer contour, could i slap it on mine and notice any diff?what should i do about this. any insight is appreciated.

If you have I4 you won't have one and early v6 cars had vacuum control.

ok. i have the v6. i know that it is an early model so that would explain all.

1995's are EEC-IV/OBD-I and vacuum actuated, so there is no IMRC box.

Ford changed it to EEC-V/OBD-II in 1996.

ok i knew they were obd-1. is there an advantage the 96 has over a 95 as far as the imrc thing goes.

I am having an IMRC problem as well. I have a code 551 on my '95 V6 (vacuum actuated). How do I troubleshoot this further? I recently cleaned (rebuilt ) both upper and lower intakes, as well as replaced the wiring harnesses, but the code 551 remained. The butterflies are very clean! The car has a distinct hesitation off the line, and a roaring at low rpms. I have had this car almost 4 years, and this has been my only chronic problem. Help!
