One thing I noticed about nearly all of your cars was that your exhaust tips were all really sooty.

Mine are always totally clean (and I don't clean them!).

What gives? Do you all drive around at full throttle all the time? Is it at WOT that the computer says heck with the a/f metering and just lets as much fuel and air dump into the cylinders as possible, thereby resulting in a rich condition that produces black smoke/soot?

Should I be concerned that my car doesn't seem to do this? I did notice on my trip that the car seemed down on power quite significantly. I used full throttle too on the run up to Darren's....

Comments appreciated.

Kerry

My car has always run extremely rich. Before fighting Ford to replace my MAF I dyno'd and had an A/F ratio of 9.5:1. My gas mileage sucks still and the problem seems to have returned to my car. Before my waranty runs out I plan to dyno the car again and give Ford a copy of the A/F ratio that was found.

I do drive my car very hard a lot of the time. About half of my miles are freeway miles and the other half has a lot of dips into the secondaries with a lot of trips to redline.
