I just installed an electric fuel pressure gauge into my Contour, and I am wondering what those of you out there with fuel pressure gauges have been getting for readings @ idle, WOT, and normal driving. At idle I get about 40 and cruising around is about the same... a little higher. At WOT I get about 50 or so but I was expecting more of a jump than that. Also, when I turn the key and let it sit, the pressure jumps from 0 to 40 and then after about 2 seconds, it goes back to 0 again. She takes awhile (2 to 3 seconds) to turn over while starting, but no problems afterwards. Any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks.

According to the Ford TSP (Technical Service Publication), the fuel pressure should be as follows for a 1996 Contour/Mystique (both 2.0L and 2.5L):

KOEO (key on engine off): 29-32 psi
Hot Idle: 30-32 psi
30 MPH: 30-32 psi
55 MPH: 32-35 psi

Hope this helps.
