has anyone intalled one of these on an SVT? it is made for the focus, but it looks very similar to the B&M short throw. and i know that the B&M shifter is the same for contours and foci. thanks.

I found info on their website and it says that it fits ford focus zetecs with the mtx 75 transmission which is the same tranny that is mated to the duratec so I don't see why it wouldn't fit. It would be nice to know for sure though, it's a lot cheaper than the B&M

thats incredible. This is supposed to be a great mod for the 99+ Mustangs so hopefully it will have the same effect on our cars. maybe one of the experts can chime in here...

IT WILL NOT FIT WITHOUT AN ADAPTOR PLATE TO RAISE THE SHIFTER AND U MUST MAKE AN ADDITIONAL CUT IN THE CONSOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

This is the case on the Mondeo, so I expect it to be the same on the Contour.

I learned this the hard way when I brought one back to Denmark from my visit in Florida.....

You need to manufacture an adaptorplate

Go have a look here:

Steeda shifter install in Mondeo

It will not fit because it is a true short shifter, which is longer from the pivot point to the bottom linkage ball.
It is appr. 10mm longer than the original (and the B&M, FC shifters etc....), so u cannot it it..........

Besides tht it shifts really nice on installed.....:)

does it hit the floor pan or something? maybe some wires? other than that, why would you need to raise it? what kind of "adapter plate" did you have to make, what did it actually raise? i mailed steeda and all they said was that if there weren't any wires under it, or if it wasn't hitting the floor, then it would work fine. a little more info on the instal would be nice though

It hits the floor!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe me, there is NO way it fits in there with out making a "raiser plate".

With the original shifter u have some 1-2mm clearance below the shifter and the floor.

Since the shifter is some ~10 mm longer below the pivot point, you cannot put it on top of the mounting console that is screwed into the floor from beneath the car!

On this exact point the Mondeo (and 99% likely the Contour also) are different..........

When reading the installation instruction, it clearly states that you just move a wire on the Focus.
The focus has a cutout in the carpet, which makes it possible to lengthen the bottom part of the shifter.

Our cars doesn't have this!

Therefore you have to make a plate to raise the shifter from it's original position.

I happend to have some 8mm plate around, which I had cut like the shifter housing base plate.

You also need 4 M6x60 bolts to replace the original M6x50.

When you raise the shifter, you also raise linkage, and there is a clearance cut in the base console, when the shifter is raised you have to enlarge that clerance cut, easy, but it must be done!

Further the small additional spring that is used on the Focus to improve the 2-3 shift cant be fitted, because the housing is different to the Focus!

I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow.
