Driving in to work today - I got a CEL.
Went to Autozone at lunch today and it read a P0153 - O2 sensor circuit low (Bank2 Sensor1)....or at least that was the description.

Can someone just confirm that for me?

Also - I have those Check Engine Light Eliminators as one of my cats was starting to head south (and I didn't want to replace it) - these were put on two o2's....not sure which ones its been so long. Anyway - does this sound like a regular symptom of an O2 sensor going bad? He cleared the code so I will see how long it takes to come back.

I'll be looking in the Haynes manual tonight. Any tips on what I should do? Car has 154,000+ mi. on it....

Thanks.

According to http://www.contour.org/FAQ/FAQ.php?s=probs&display=checkengine

P0153=Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor circuit Slow Response - Bank No. 2.

According to what I have heard, this is the hardest one to replace (since it is against the firewall). The sensor itself runs about $55-65.

I believe bank 1 is closest to the firewall. Bank 2 is close to the radiator.

My copy of the haynes manual only covers 95 type emmision CEL codes and such and does not describe the 96+ cars with the OBD-II computer and extra sensors. Not saying there isn't a newer revision, but just something to be aware of.
