We just picked up a 2000 CSVT this past weekend and I noticed a hesitation when it reaches around 3000 to 3500 RPMs. When I'm on the gas and the car reaches 3000-3500 RPMs the car seems to hesitate or studder until I get above 3500. It's not real bad but you can tell it's doing it. The only mod is a KKM intake. Could this be some sort of back pressure issue or something? Any ideas?

Funny you mention this....I've been having some throttle rise problems and plan on taking the car to the dealer so I took the KKM out and put the stock box back in and the acceleration is soooo much more linear. I don't feel what seemed to be hicups as I approach 3500 anymore. With the KKM, there seemed to be alot more flat and sharp spots when accelerating.

In short, I think it could be the KKM.

Good luck...

did you remove the resonator in the exhuast system? remember with the KKM you are allowing more air flow into the engine. so what goes in must come out, however with the stock resonator in place this restricts air flow, i am thinking you are not getting proper exhuast flow. a very common mod is to remove the resonator, and it is cheap! bear in mind it will change the sound of the exhaust. also make sure your engine isnt running hot, i hear installing the KKM and not removing the resonator, the engine may run hotter?

good luck!!!

I would reset my ECU also, to let it learn from the mod!

My guess is the secondaries are sticking. They activate at ~3500rpm.

Time to pull the intakes and clean them. They get so nasty Ford should have put them in the general maintenance schedules.

There is a How-To if the FAQ area!
