The entire clock assembly is under $35. The bulb shouldn't run more than $4-5.

It's not the same lamp IIRC.. the center stop lamps get much hotter when in use - and the clock is always illuminated at night. They look the same, but don't have the same characteristics.. I replaced mine a few weeks ago, the lamp and bulb holder together (not sold separately anyways) cost like 5$ CDN...

Yeah, I know that the center tail is brighter, but I always drive with my headlamps on so it makes no difference. What is this "sleeve" you're talking about? There's no sleeve in my clock, it's just a bulb.

FWIW, I just replaced my clock light. Piece o'cake on my '98 SVT. Actually got the bulb and holder from a Lincoln-Mercury dealership (kudos to Burt's Ford for the info!). Just be sure to retain the green "bulb condom" from the burned-out bulb, and slip it onto the new bulb. For the record, the part number for the bulb-holder combo is E5RY 13466 BA.

Failed to mention... The bulb/holder set me back about $5. Well worth it for getting my clock back!
