Had the battery go on my '98 just as the site logged off.

My initial attempt on the Friday night was Canadian Tire. Unfortunately their computer listed a $75 replacement that was not even close, physically, to OEM. They showed me $100. ones on the shelves that were similar, but had no equivalency charts and I was in no mood to get measuring tape out.

I ended up getting identical battery replacement (BXT-40R)on Sat morning at my local Ford dealer for $96.(trade price) and it has 18 month replacement and 84 month pro-rated warranty.

First time I've ever got a battery at dealer, but I'll be back whenever the one in my '97 goes.

Yahh it's kinda messed for these batteries. The polarity is backwards even. I got myself a battery @ the wreckers 2 years back know and it's still going strong. Only cost me $50.

D, what kind of battery was that? My trade pricing is lower than that? Maybe I got a poopy battery...

Replacement was Motorcraft BXT-40R, same # as originals in both my cars. List was $109.
Lack of slack in cables, hold down clamp, battery heat shield blanket as well as physical dimensions would all have to be taken into consideration if selecting an alternative.
