It's generic obd2 error P0402 (2.5 Duratec), and it's intermittent. Does not seem to be any constant cause or condition. Could be just driving down my street at 20 mph, or on the freeway at 75...early in drive cycle or late...Goes away for a period, then re-appears.

Rather than just replacing the EGR, which may be just reflecting or observing another condition, I thought I'd ask the clan...any ideas?

Or it could be (a) the EVR (EGR vacuum regulator) is malfunctioning or (b) the EGR valve is stuck open.
