If somebody with a Contour wanted a turbo bad enough, all they would have to do is pony up the $$$....that's how the guy in the Cougar has his turbo. Although packaging a turbo in a Contour will be tight, it almost definitely can be done.

I heard about a blower from Vortech for the Contour. Can anyone tell me if this is for the SVT, the normal 2.5, or the Zetec?

Turbocharger on a SVT Duratec? Check this out 10:25:1 compression+ boost= NEW ENGINE Now maybe on a regular Duratec, but I wouldn't risk it on the CSVT Duratec. Also where is the intercooler going to go? I think its nuts to run a turbo/S/C in our cars w/o one and yes I know that people are doing it but whats the life expectancy for it???? At minimum you need some type of scoop/vents to get some of that hot air out.

But a belt driven turbo charger is fine? (Vortech's Centrifugal S/C) Explain... I think either without an intercooler is risky on a SVT myself...

I'm pretty sure the Turbo produces quite a bit more heat than a Supercharger.

No matter what (2) things that can hurt ANY engine... 1. HEAT, that has nowhere to go w/o some type of vent/scoop/etc 2.anything that forces compression into the engine, turbo or S/C creates even MORE compression, thats why those cars equipped with them have like 8:1 compression. 3. Also ABUSE w/o any R&D, thats scary

A 99+ Cougar is nothing more than a Contour Coupe ... the engine bays are identical!

answer to all of your compression needs. Though it does cost money, Mirko Racing has lower compression pistons for sale. That is the ultimate compression fix.
