Well after owning the 99 SVT for two years I decided it was time to take it to the dyno. Since the engine was recently replaced by Ford I wanted to make sure it is making the power it is suppose to. The car is stock except for having removed the resonator from the stock SVT exhuast and a drop in K&N minus the outer airbox. I had it done at one of the Local Honda tuner shops in Houston, they are using theDynojet 248C.

Nice and consistent on the hp! Very nice for just an open K&N. When I ran my 00 SVT with a tick over 3k, we played around with different intakes. With an open K&N I maxed at 172.5hp and 156.1 tq. That was with my resonator too. That Probably explains the torque and horsepower differences.
How many miles on the new engine? Was it really new, or did you get the rebuild?

Well either I'm gonna "have" to get me a new motor, or that Dyno is misleading. That's pretty much basically a stock motor, WOW is all I got to say!!! I think you might need to definately run at the Dragstrip and get some real numbers, performance that is. I would love to see, assuming you're a very good manual driver, some 1/4 times... Why? Because if your times perform like your dyno figures show, You Lucky GUY!!! You was given a 2.5 freak of nature! I'm JEALOUS , and you're not even my GF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure who Dave is agreeing with.. Just for reference, my 98.5 SVT with KKM and no resonator pulled 177hp and 152ft/lbs, and 2 pulls at 174hp w/ 151ft/lbs. A bone stock 99 SVT next to me pulled a 165hp w/ 152ft/lbs. So I guess mine was built on a good day

I have to say that I was happy with the numbers, but dont see them as any big deal. If you figure that a stock 200 horsepower engine would make roughly 166 with 17% drivetrain loss this is only about 8-9 horsepower gain. Now consider that an engines vary plus or minus a horsepower and the dyno plus or minus a horsepower, why would these numbers be so hard to believe. I would think the open K&N would make about the same power as KKM and so the resonator removal would only have to add 4-5 hosepower.

I didn't forget your question. The engine is supposed to be remanufactured but I am not really sure. The reason I say this is that I heard so many stories from Ford during the four months I waited for the engine. I can say that it came to the dealership in long block form in a Ford crate for what that is worth. I guess by the time I drove to Houston there were about 1800 miles on it. I know it isn't broken in and I shoudn't put it on the dyno so soon but I doubt it is any harder on it than my nomal driving.

I'll just put it to you this way CB. I have never been able to dyno my car yet, but from the dyno's I've seen posted, most of'em don't even hit 180whp, but close. Have you seen the mods they have done to there tours. The point is with all the mods I have done to my car so far, if it didn't pull more than 180, I'd be pretty dissapointed knowing all you did to yours was a drop in K&N and remove the res an you're just a few ticks off of me. No CB you should see it as a big deal, becuase a hp here and a hp there really adds up and isn't that what it's all about. People spend 100's sometimes 1000's, gaining only a couple hp, and you say it's not a BIG DEAL!!! I Disagree.......Aloha

Remember you have to factor in the dyno that was used...some dyno's pull higher numbers than others. That is not to discount your numbers or anything cb but I just don't think you can compare two cars' dyno numbers unless you run them on the same dyno in the same conditions. Otherwise you are talking apples to oranges. Just my $.02
