My first dyno was this past spring with the Extrude Honed upper intake, SVT exhaust, KKM, and strait inlet pipe. My best run was 133.4 hp with a very flat torgue curve around the same numbers. I dynod again Sat. with the SHO Shop y-pipe and 60mm TB. This time I ran 142.8. So I gained 9hp with the SHO-Shop y-pipe and 60mm SVT TB. I lost some at the bottom end but gained above 4.5g's. I think I will switch back to the 55mm TB for the low power. I can feel the difference between the two TB's though. The car begin's to take off like a turbo. Slow at first then wham here we go. I think for better drivability I'll put the 55mm back on. I was the only one that day to show gains because I went first when the everything was pretty cool outside. The dyno was corrected for everything but humidity. I think the y-pipe made most of the difference in power. I know the conditions would worsen so I'm glad I opted to go first. I'll let Mark and Steve comment on their pulls. I know they were not too happy and swear the dyno didn't show what they felt in their seat pants.

I would think the 60 tb would work great with a chip and a bigger MAF. Especially with the SVT intake setup. You should see 150+ hp.

You should be seeing a lot more then that! When I dynoed my stock 96 SE I got 152hp and 153ft/lb at the wheels.

Maybe redracer. It seems that dynos seem to be different everywhere. I know my car has 107k on it so this might be due to being a bit tired. It was kind of humid but not as humid as the conditions as the other guys had. I know I made 9 hp so no matter what my true numbers are I'm dynoing on the same machine so that I can see the true benefits of my mods.

Actually, back in late 99, we had a customer dyno his ATX Duratec Contour. His numbers showed, IIRC, around 128hp at the wheels. I don't remember the torque figures though. He only had a KKM at the time.

Christopher -- so only about a 20hp drivetrain loss? Not bad IMHO....here's something interesting on that:

My car has the KKM & no res exhaust. I raced an MTX Cougar w/KKM & Borla exhaust. They launched well, as did I. She ran only 0.2 sec faster than me!

So I guess with some basic mods (KKM, exhaust, etc) an ATX could keep up with a stock MTX?! smile

128 dyno HP + 20 hp lost to the drivetrain = 170 dyno HP. That's pretty cool.

Oh sorry, my bad. shocked I meant about a 20hp loss from the 170hp rating to the dynoed 150ish.

ContourGuy,

I saw two 3 ATX V6 Cougar's dynoed. One had a weapon-R intake, Apexi exhaust, and an UD pulley. It made a 123hp. Another had a Borla, KKM, and MSDS headers and made 135hp. Mine with a Borla, Custom intake, MSDS headers and the IAT mod made 151.5. The driveline loss is estimated at 30%.
