Besides the adjustability of the coilovers, what are the positives and the negatives in comparing aftermarket springs to coilovers?

Although some companies make springs with non-linear rates for coilovers, the Ground Control coilovers come with linear Eibach springs. The nice thing about non-linear springs (such as the Eibach and H&R sets) is that they provide multiple levels of stiffness relative to spring travel, so the ride is not as harsh on the street as a stiff spring and not as soft on the track as a soft spring. But if you are willing to sacrifice ride for track performance, stiffer linear springs are preferred.

The GC coilovers are a little more expensive than the non-linear H&R and Eibach springs.

The coilovers provide their own "spring perch", so you will need to cut off the perch on the struts to be able to fit them.

The adjustability also allows for a winter/summer setting. You can also purchase different spring rates so that in the summer you can run stiffer than in the winter (most of the linear coilover springs I have seen are less expensive than the non-linear springs).
