Do the much-vaunted KKM Intakes add horsepower to the Zetec? I'm just a newbie w/ car tinkering. Any other suggestions, to increase acceleration for a Zetec?

a kkm will help. i would suggest getting the exhaust done soon after the kkm is installed. you will see more power gains with this set up. as for the kkm everybody say's you hear a growl or larger intake noise but since mine has been on i have never heard a depper sound. a set of focus sport spark plug wires will help along with ditching the junk motorcraft spark plugs. they are junk.you can see the list of mods i have done.

I have a question regarding the KKM. Is there any real risk of getting water into the engine from the regular KKM kit w/o the CAI mod? That's the only thing I'm scared of. I don't want to kill my car.

You will have no problems with water using the KKM. I had a 5.5" drop and never had a problem during monsoon season.
