I don't like it!

It has a very looooong engagement, for those that don't like the SVTs short engagement at the top. You might want to consider switching to one of these.

Its also holding up great with the 3L and has a strong grip. I just don't like the girly feeling of having to depress it ALL the way down, I really liked the SVTs short catchy grip at the top...

So that more or less answers the question if it was the same clutch as a factory original?

Are you sure you fully bled your clutch, and did you give it a couple days to "pump up". Mine took like two full days of driving to regain normal feeling (have no idea why, I just assumed something in the self adjusting hydraulics wasn't done pressurizing???)

Is the clutch disc thicker than stock unit? Maybe it's just a whole lot heavier? (weight of the clutch factors a lot)

The clutch action is hydraulic so it will not change.

Did you have the hydraulic system open? Did you bleed both cylinders & line?

Did you replace the old fluid? It is brake fluid. It degrades quickly and near instantly if exposed to the atmosphere. (Line pressure will suffer with age and the new clutch doesn't help with it's superior grip)

I suggest replacing it either way. I recommend Valvoline Syn-Power (450 degrees) or Castrol GT Lima (400 degrees) brake fluid.

Yeah I had to bleed the entire system, when I yanked the engine and tranny it all leaked out. I was and still am using the Syn-Power fluid, great stuff.

Yeah I'm pretty its the clutch itself. Back when I had the stock SVT clutch replaced, right out of the box it had that heavy & catchy feel to it. Totaly opposite of the Sachs clutch, the pedal is way softer. Its more sedate...

I did notice that the Sachs disk unit was thicker than the Ford unit, but then again I had over 35K on that clutch. I also replaced the slave cyl.

Give it some time to break in. (what's the break in time/restriction? 500 miles, no full throttle?)

Then let us know if it gets any better. Most high performance clutches need a set break in pattern.

It's funny because it's true

This isn't meant as a dig on VDubs or anything, but the first time I drove a new Jetta I immediately new why I always see chicks driving them. I swear it takes the ENTIRE travel of the pedal to actuate the clutch on those cars. A monkey couldn't stall one of those things. BTW, I just realized that this could be taken as a dig on chicks, rest assured it isn't
