I know this one has been done to death, but I cant find any step by step instructions on how to do the mod. The mod I am referring to is the one where you get the 9005 bright bulbs, file out some tabs and put them into the non brights headlight socket. I am not too good with these things, so the more detailed the directions the better! Thanks alot for your time and help!!!

I did not have to file anything. The bulbs just plugged right in.

Nick,
If you buy the 9005's and compare the tab pattern to the stock ones (which are are the innermost bulbs on the lamp assembly), it becomes farily clear what material needs to be removed. You may be able to get away without shaving anything off as did Antonio, but I don't believe that you will get correct alignment of the filament if you don't shave the one tab just a bit.

Huh...thats wierd, pre-98's must be the oher way around. My low beam bulbs (9006)are located on the outside of my lamp and the high beams (9005) are the ones closest to my grill. VERY easy to install. Literally 5 ins to do all bulbs. Just twist and pull, thats it!
Just thought I would say that.

The tabs you must file down are INSIDE the bulb SOCKET , where your wiring harness plugs into . The low beam bulbs have 1 tab inside the bulb socket , and the high beams have 2 tabs inside the socket . If you compare the two of them , you'll see exactly what I'm saying . I shaved mine down with an exacto knife ... easy as pie .

You should not have to do anything to the 3 outside tabs to get them to lock into the lamp housing . They should just turn 1/4 turn & lock in .

The best part of this mod is that since you're trimming the bulbs and not the harness , it's completly reversible .
Well , the best part is the fact that you can actually see where the heck you're going !! The reversible part might be #2 .

Now do the #885 bulbs in your fog lights & aim 'em up a bit ... another great mod ! I've done BOTH mods to 3 'Tours in my family , everyone's very happy .

Allen,

Sorry, but the Redwings are otta there - just like the Oilers

I didn't file down the tabs on the wiring harness - I just forced them in - they fit with little trouble.

I think it's not a difference between pre-98 and post-98, but the difference between US models and Canadian models.

Oops , forgot I had it on there . Guess I've gotta change it . I still love the 'Wings , even if they f-ed up this year & followed the Flyers & Oilers down the toilet !! It's not like them to go out in the 1st round ... yea well . Thanks for pointing it out for me .
