The latest issue of Racecar Engineering (a UK publication) has a five or six page article on the buildup of the BTCC winning Mondeo. This car, I believe, is the 2nd gen car but some of the stuff may still be applicable. I just skimmed the article, and most of the stuff looks to be unobtanium, but it may give some ideas though. Might want to check it out.

Racecar Engineering is a great mag. Lots of theory, not for the faint of heart though. The Mondeo article basicly states that the Mondeo is not a good car to make a racecar out of, so LOTS of re-engineering had to be done. How much? Even things like firing order of the motor, sus. pick-up points, relocated motor (back at fire wall, and dropped down for lower CG), brakes, etc.. Fun to read, thats for sure. With enough dollars, time, and engineers, you CAN polish a turd!

Hey Bibycle, how do you like your Kumhos? I was thinking about a set of those for the my Tour. I'm wanting something that handles OK but is quiter than the stock KDWs while still having an aggressive looking tread. Thanks.

They are OK, not great, but not bad either. Great for the price - $242 for the set, shipped to my door from TireRack. About a 7.5 overall I'd say. Check www.TireRack.com for more info on tires. Probably going to go with something else when I get the 17's later this spring.

Thanks for the info. I am going to 17s shortly, hence the need for tires. Don't wanna blow a ton of money on designer ($$$) tires though. I'm kinda leaning toward the Yokahama Paradas right now. They just look cool. Plan on getting some racing rubber for the stock wheels too! Thanks again.
