Hello I Drive a Cougar(ick sounds like a AA meeting)
Anyway, I'm looking for a good AutoX tire, I
currently use BFG KDWs and I love em, but
I want more..
I suppose my options are
Kumho's, BFG G-force, Hoosier?
I was wondering what people have used, as
far as size and brands...
Thanks

This was just discussed on one of the forums a couple weeks back. You might want to try a search. My take is, Hoosiers are the lightest and provide excellent grip but can be flat spotted easily and have the shortest life. BFGs are a good all around tire. Kumhos provide good grip and the longest life.

The Kumho Victoracers and the Toyo Proxies RA1 have the best grip/life expectancy. The Kumhos's are cheaper in price, so they are going to be my next set of tires. Right now I have the RA1's and I think they are great!

Also, I think Hoosiers need some negative camber to get the full contact patch down.

Sounds crazy but I would stay with the KDW the price isnt bad, and it handels great, unless your going to be there every week and on to the nationals it cant be beat, drive to and from the course no wheel swap needed, Last time out seen the kumos on a cobra said he had bfg r1 deals before and switched, I was faster then that car, not that that proves anything but the guy driving said he thought they would be better, plus when we left to go home I pittyed all those people stuck there swaping wheels

Thanks for the replies guys,
I don't mind swapping tires, I would still use the KDWs on
occassion, I ran in the wet with them not too long ago and did
pretty well, I was less than a second off a Audi TT Quattro
(I dunno how, he is a good driver too)

The main reason for getting stickier tires, it to get closer to
the main competition in G stock, those darn Integra's
right now I"m not too far off them, 2-4 seconds in the most recent
autox(that I have resullts from)

Regardless, I want to get a little more edge, looks like the Kumhos
I should get at least a season or more out of them, I may try to
attend nationals next year, call me crazy, call me foolish, but
it might just be fun.

Now is tirerack the cheapest for this? And what size,
I'm looking at 225/50/16's or 205/55/16's is there another size I
am missing? Obviously the 225 will give me a bigger contact patch.
well thanks again
