Tough to say.

Key words from that article are "freak accident."

My first thought when I heard this was, "Welp, he had it coming, didn't he?"

But the more I find out, the less I think so.

Yeah, he had a habit of getting too close or spurring a reaction for entertainment value.

But it sounds like this was different. The tape should be strong evidence one way or the other.

Or, maybe there's some obvious rule of thumb, like "Don't swim over top a stingray in close proximity..." I don't know.
