OP teamSVTour CEG\'er T Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 487	Well due to the wheel wells on these cars and the on going challenge of making wheels fit w/out rub I have a question. Trying to find a definate answer in the archives was starting to make my head spin. Like the title states I am looking to get a set of either 19x8's or 18x8's. My problem is some of the wheels I have narrowed it down to have different offsets and also some have the option of picking what offset you want. That being said, what is the offset and tire size I should go with for both the 18x8 and 19x8 so that I won't rub or have the least chance of rubbing. I don't think I want to go any less than a 225 correct? I dont want the tire looking stretched and the edge of the wheel sticking out past the rubber. Just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum. I will try to delete and move to "wheels & tires". Mods feel free to move if it is to late for me to delete and move. NVMYSVT Veteran CEG\'er N Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 728 Wisconsin	my 18's are 45mm offset (7.5 width and 225 series tires) and I have no rubbing issues at all. my 19's are 40mm offset (8.0 widith and 235 series) and require spacers.. as there was meer millimeters between the wheel and my Koni's and there was rubbing. These are also on the Cougar but is should be the same dealio for the Contour. I have not yet attempted to put these on one of my CSVT's as I'm sure that there will be some rubbing issues. I hope my information helps. I hope my information helps. Thanks NVMYSVT 19's are one of the sizes I need the info on (also 18's) both with the same 8 inch width. Above is what I'm afraid of. I need to make sure I get the correct offset so that I do not rub on the strut or the fender. I also do not want to use spacers. I have tried using them before but it seems my studs are not very long which only allows me to get a few solid turns w/ the lug nuts. Does not feel very safe. NVMYSVT Veteran CEG\'er N Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 728 Wisconsin	You definately do not want to add universal spacers and use your stock lugnuts/bolts what we did for my car was to buy 2 of the H&R spacer kits for my car.. I ended up going with 15mm in the front and 30mm in the rear.. You wont need anything as drastic as this as my car has custom flares and I also wanted to fill it better.. the 15mm spacers come with extended hardened lug studs which you use. the 30mm spacers bolt onto the car using your lugnuts but then have 4 brand new extended studs which you use to attach to your wheels.. it completely replaces your lug area. I don't think my situation needs spacers. Maybe I'm wrong. But what I'm needing to know is exactly what offset to go with on a 8 inch wide wheel in both the 18 and 19 dia. given my suspension setup. I would prefer real situations w/ people that are currently running or have ran these sizes and experienced no issues. Please let me know what offset you are using. I hope my information helps. You know the 40mm offset already puts it further out than a higher offset. I think it was your wide 235 and the fact it's on a tall 19" wheel and possibly because of the konis. Lowering always is more prone to rubbing (assuming you had lowering springs) and I think konis possibly are a bit closer to the wheel for some reason than stock struts. Anyways, to answer the original poster and agreeing with the previous posts, 45mm offset with a 8" wheel SHOULD be just about right. But it can come down to your specific car, suspension, and tire. I rub a bit (even after lots of cutting the fenders) with 17 x 7 roush wheels (offset?) and 16 x 7 rotas (40mm offset). Both have 225 wide tires, 45 series on 17"s and 50 series on 16"s. If I wasn't lowered, they wouldn't rub.
