im considering getting some glow gauges cause i dont' like the stock ones... does anyone any tips or reliable places to get them from?

I found this:

http://www.streetracerparts.com/Ford_Contour_SVT_1998_2000_2_Color_Style_Illumiglo_p/srp-0023.htm

anyone have speculations about these?

Do whatever you want, dude!

Personally, I would chose reverse glow, because the whole face lighting up would annoy me after a while.

However, the stock gauge lighting suck, so indiglos are a good solution. Other solution is to put some bright LEDs back there...

Soon, my 1W LED project will unfold... they're so damn bright in my early tests I've done that there was perfectly even lighting throughout the guage cluster!

I got em from there...excellent construction and quality. I would make sure you get the 6-color inverter (I did). Its a real nice if you want to pick btw diff shades of green and blue + it has a brightness adjustment on it.

very simple just take apart your dash (search for the how-to as it has been written to ad-nauseum and use some sort of very thin double sided tape or adhesive spray to adhere the gauges. You should not need to remove the needles to put these on. wire them up (self explanatory when u see them. They just click together to the inverter). The hardest part is taping into the right color wires for power and neg on the light switch so they turn on w/ the lights. To be honest I forget what colors. Someone else might chime in.

I put the same type in my Escort which took about 2 hours. Although, I am curious to know the difficulty of the installation on a Contour because I loved them in my Escort!

If you have any experience w/ wiring at all, its a piece of cake. Here's a tutorial to get you started, it should be all you need, other than the glow guages and some time.
