friend of mine has an intermittent transmission problem on his 2000 Ford Contour, 2.5L Duratec, auto. From what i understand, it's nearly identical to the SVT Contour and he at one point had a supercharger on it from an SVT Contour. He's having problems with the tranny shifting/popping out of gear in 3rd/4th. Fluid is good, parts places say it doesn't have a serviceable filter. Before i really get into this i want to know if anyone has any insight into the cars, i'm just the one willing to do the work. I'm checking over at SVTPerformance.com now too for some answers, but i was just wondering if anyone had a clue on this deal, i'm thinking the tranny's boned. But i don't want to pull the pan if all i'm gonna be doin' is finding metal. No metal on the dipstick, fluid doesn't appear to be dark/burned. Thanks --Billy

There's no pan to drop anyway. Nor is the filter a service item except on rebuild.

See if you can get a better description of what's wrong.

SVT-related sites aren't going to be of much help since they all have sticks and this is an auto.

Also, there is a TRANSAAXLE forum specifically for this sub-system. Look there for previous posts. Lots of info on the CD4E.

Perhaps a mod will move this since it really belongs there.

thanks, i just posted here as it was a troubleshooting forum, but anyhow, i stated that it was an auto, and if there's no pan to drop, then that solves that question.
