I have found a leak on my 3L and I cant find where it is coming from because I dont have jack stands or lifts or any kind of tools since I am just here for school.

I wanted to know if anyone could help me out and check my car out with me or if anyone knew a good mechanic that doesnt charge to much so I can get my car checked out.

I am bummed

Where in SD are you located? You said you were here for school, so near SDSU or UCSD?

I am near SDSU. The dripping is somewhere near the belts. It is dripping from the back corner. It could of gotton there from driving though. I hadnt had any leakage then I drove to LMU and back in one say hitting the 405 when it went down to one lane for 10 miles so that could of hurt something... So ya I dont know what is leaking I cannot really see. It looks like oil is on the subframe and on the cv boot and I dont see it any higher. I hope it is just something that needs to be tightened. But again I dont have any tools and know anyone with car stuff.

Any help would be cool. The leak seemed to calm down now that my car hasnt moved for a day. but that leak is still there somewhere

Did you install a DMD on your new 3L? Sounds like it could be from the hole in the keyway that many people forget to fill with RTV sealant. Is the oil spraying or just dripping when the car is stopped?

Unfortunately, I can no longer help out as I just finished moving up North, but maybe Marky or Mental Case could lend a hand?

It probably is the crank pulley. I think it is getting everything in that area wet since multiple things are oiled. I wish I could lift my car and tighten it but I donâ??t have the tools to do it with.

I hope its something as simple as adding sealant and tightening a screw.

I did install a new DMD. If I could stick my hand in there I would be able to tell. It doesnt seem to be leaking since I am not driving it so I think that narrows down the options.

What a pain this has been. I wish I had jack stands, a torque wrench, and some sockets. I guess no one in SD is around right now. I got a quote to what I think is wrong (crank pulley leak) at around $130. Or a guy that works for my landlord said he would do it for $50 bucks. The problem I am having is time and reassurance. The $50 buck man only could do it Saturday; I want to be driving before Saturday. The shop would cost me $130 which cuts down if I can get my math book or not. I am going to see if I can find the spot once my garage is clear. Hopefully I can figure this problem out soon. I would think a shop could do it for so much cheaper if it is just a keyway leak. I would do it if I had those tools.

I wish the Bay Area had some sort of intro to traffic for my car then going into the big stuff in LA. Oh wellâ?¦

Sorry I can't help but I'm in about the same position as you with respect to tools and workspace. Good luck getting it figured out.
