The clutch on my 99CSVT is starting to slip a bit and I was wondering if it is possible to change the clutch on street conditions without a lift? Would it be even possible for a newbie like me to even attempt on doing it? How hard would you guys say it is to change a clutch? Thanks

Not something you will want to try, if you search the transaxle, you'll find tons of info. For example.

actually go to a tranny guy, if you live in a certain area where other CEGers live, they may have a good suggestion and some good contacts

if you never did this kind of job and you dont have the appropriate equipment i dont think you should attempt doing it yourself on your driveway...

its far from changing a clutch on a civic.

Thanks a lot for the input. I did some research and I might give it a try, I just canā??t afford paying 900+ for clutch replacement.

amen , but for the price you paid for this car, a civic of the same model year would probably be a big difference. If you spend that difference on performance or aesthetics then you have a car that's better and cheaper than the civic. But by no means can this be as fast as a lot of those civics are simply because of the parts that aren't made for this car.

I've done two clutch replacements... its not fun.

If you do not have the right tools and equipment it will take you atleast 3-4 weeks to get the job finished guaranteed, unless of course you know someone that can help you do the job and has the tools and experiance of changing one on another Contique.

Girls can't change clutches! Just kidding, but it is no easy task. If you are going to drop the Subframe, which is what I would highly recommend, then you will still need an engine hoist. You will probally cuss out words for Fords engineers during the replacement. PM SVTCurevo for great deals on Spec Clutches! Hopefully you have access to all kinds of tools... but then again you are a woman; You can get anything you want.

Good Luck!
