OP cashewnuts Newbie C Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 8	car: 1996 GL..auto...2L Just wondering...I have removed the black plastic cover on top of the timing belt path. Good way to gauge condition of the belt? Belt looks good to me and feels tight. I have 97K on car and never have changed the belt. Should I go with my visual inspection or? Thanks.

BrApple_dup1 Hard-core CEG'er B Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 6,910 Enfield, CT	at 104k the belt on my car looked great, problem was the plastic pullies where worn and needed to be replaced, actually my tensioner was goingto finish splitting in half soon ... so its your call to replace but if you do make sure you change the pullies - 95 Mystique LS - Zetec/5spd - 99 Contour SeVT Sport - Duratec/5spd Official NE-CEG Contour/Mustang Family
