car: 1996 GL..auto...2L

Just wondering...I have removed the black plastic cover on top of the timing belt path. Good way to gauge condition of the belt? Belt looks good to me and feels tight. I have 97K on car and never have changed the belt. Should I go with my visual inspection or? Thanks.

2.0 L Zetec non-interference engine. You're fine (for now).

at 104k the belt on my car looked great, problem was the plastic pullies where worn and needed to be replaced, actually my tensioner was goingto finish splitting in half soon ... so its your call to replace but if you do make sure you change the pullies
