I have a 96 contour 2.0L auto trans that stalled on my son while he was going to his friends. He was on an interstate hwy. at the time. I had to have the car towed (flatbed) home. It has fuel (which I expected at first) I rented an obd-2 reader & the only code was P0401. From all the different sources I've tried I didn't realize an EGR insufficent flow would keep the car from starting? Is this possible? or is there probably somrthing else that would register an EGR code? I'm going to try cleaning carbon from ports anyway. thanks & best regards Dex

Welcome . Clean the throttle body and test the DPFE too.

TB cleaning and install a new gasket when done.

DPFE test from Autozone

Check this first. An EGR fault is the least of your worries.

Spark, Fuel, Air. At least one is missing. Figure out which and you'll be on your way to solving the problem.
