Today I noticed a loss of top end in my 1998 SVT. I know its not the IMRC because I can feel that open. It starts to feel sluggish around 5500 and will barely pull over 6500. Also, the car seems to be idleing at around 1500, I already ordered a new IAC. Any ideas on the top end loss?

Steady high idle is sometimes an ECT going bad.
Otherwise the IAC or rich mixture combined with an air leak.

Have you checked the voltages from the TPS sensor? Should be 1 to 5 volts smoothly across the scale.

Plugs and wires have about 12k on them. Manifold was cleaned over the winter as well.
Its not really a steady high idle, it goes between 1200 and 1500.
TPS voltage is .98 to 4.89.
I did take of the UIM and checked out the gaskets. It looks like the ones for two of the cylinders were not sealing properly. So I am guessing that they are leaking air, and creating a lean condition. I also checked the spark plugs and they are looking pretty white, which would indicate a lean mixture. So I am going to replaced the gaskets and go from there. I will update this thread with the results.

Well after replacing the UIM gaskets, the car will idle normally most of the time. It also seems that the rod that goes to the front bank secondaries had fallen off. I am still having a problem with high idle about 20% of the time. Idles at around 1100.
**Edit**
Now that I think about it, I am not sure I have a EGR gasket, could that be causing my problem?

Are ghettoing everything? I'm guessing you didn't replace the gaskets the first time you did the UIM cleaning. Doesn't take very much age for them to wear out. I'd replace them if they only had 30k on them. Did you tq down the new ones to 7 ft lbs and in the correct sequence. No or bad EGR gasket will cause a host of issues.

I did replace the UIM & LIM Gaskets when I cleaned it the first time. I took off the UIM early last week to see if I could figure out why the idle was acting up. I think when I put it back together I accidently messed up the UIM gasket. As to where the EGR gasket went, I thought I replaced it, but looking back, I don't think its there.
