I was looking through our source of parts here on CEG and the only places that have them are CTA and SP-motorsports(euro-spec) for around $900.
-Has any one used one of the Euro-spec MTX-75's yet, is it any better???
-Anyone know of a better source than these two options?
-is there any other way to support the engine other than a cherry picker when dropping the subframe?

Would you be interested in a fully built transmission with Torsen LSD and upgraded sychros and a Focus Shift tower? If so send me a PM. The tranny only has 900miles on it.

Yes, Jed has. It's the best new MTX you can buy with all the latest upgrades.

Get a BAT trans or have your current one rebuild. I know someone with a used trans (cheap) that is missing the shift tower. I'm sure I could take it over to Terry's and have it upgraded and shipped to you. THen have a shop or yourself swap the tranny's.

Yes there is. I've seen people use a board under the oil pan and support the engine with a floor jack. However the best way to support it is with the correct tool. It is a tool that mounts to the edges of your engine bay and then hooks through your lift hooks on your engine. This is the tool called out in all of Ford's service manuals. It's name is called a support bar specifically for supporting the engine. The part number for the tool is 21-140. Heres the pic out of the Ford service manual:

Pretty hard top slide the trans out from under the car with that device. I've seen it used in an SHO trans removal video but I don't think it can be use for a Tour. At least not making removal very easy. If the engine is in it's upright position sliding the trans out straight would enable it to hit the inner fender. Someone said they were able to work in there w/o dropping the SF last week or so. It wouldn't be very fun at and he even admitted that it wasn't.

Yeah, but he's already talking about dropping the subframe.

My guess is he plans to support the engine, drop the S.F. and pull the tranny out of the bottom at an angle once the SF is out of the way.

That's what I would so anyway and I've seen it done on these cars more than once now too.

I'll put holes in him!!

Thanks for the info guys, but I said F... it and I'm gonna have the guys over at ADC do it for me. I talked to Keith over there and he quoted me a pretty good price for the tranny swap.. I would've rather don it myself but I just don't really have the room/time/equip. to do so.

Thanks again

well wait, are you looking to replace your BROKEN tranny? or you want the newer mtx75? A used one you can find for as cheap as $60 (with low mileage), for one of the new ones try Terry Haines.
