Do use your head unit's, Amp's, or components? I leave my head unit's x-over flat and use my amplifiers x-over set slightly over what my components x-over is set at. What does everybody else do? Am I best leaving my components flat as well?

My PPI Art series amp that I use for my mids doesn't have a crossover so I use the crossovers that were supplied with the components. For my subs, I'm currently using an Infinity amp and I use the built in crossover. Back in the day I had an audiocontrol 24xs and 4.1 eq/line driver which I loved but I sold most of my old equiptment. I've been contemplating going back to using some auidocontrol products but I've always struggled to get the level of SQ I'm looking for in this car so I'm not sure it's worth the extra coin.

HU only.
My amp has one, but I don't remember what it's rated for.
I high pass the speakers directly connected so they don't distort (but I lose midrange in this case). Whenever I feel like getting a decent ~600W RMS 4 channel amp, I'll continue to high pass them. High pass is set at 125Hz BTW... any lower and speakers distort at high volumes from the midrange and the HU's inability to drive the speakers very well.
My sub is low passed (obviously!), and I like having it set thru the HU so I can change it from 50Hz to 80Hz depending on the music I'm listening to at the moment.

I have it set on my amps to what sounds "pretty normal/good" when the HU crossover is flat, and in particular songs that have less bass/treble, or too much, I tweak it with the HU. or when I wanna blow someone's pants off cause they think my system's weak

I'm with you there... I usually listen to rock with the level down on the amp, people don't realize that a 150W 15" is still a 15" and can move quite a bit of air... Until I throw in a rap cd...

When I still had my tour...
I had custom passive x-overs built by Madisound for my Vifa PLs and tweets and for the sub I used the x-over on the Xtant amp.

ppi pcx amps have built-in active crossovers that run up to 4k. they'll let me bandpass my vifa mid and hipass the peerless tweet. an rca passthru from one amp to the other lets me bandpass the sub so it acts as a sorta subsonic filter.
