Anyone else have a real weak e-brake? Mine barely holds the car on the driveway when it's pulled all the way. My friend pulled his the other day and I was amazed when it locked up the rear tires What could make mine so weak? Cable not tight enough?

I searched around but couldn't find anything, maybe it's something real simple that I should know

mine is like that... I pulled it up one day and it was weird there immediately was alot of slack - more than normal but it still worked.

took it to a shop thinking that either it needed to be adjusted or one of them replaced.. they looked at it and said it was fine, my consensus is that it is not but its still like that.. I always park it in gear anyways.

Im on the same boat. Parking brake sucks... will hold the car on a flat surface, but any kind of incline and it does nothing. I am going to replace my read pads tonight, as I have just changes the whole cable system to no avail. I'll let ya know if that helps at all.

+1 Mines the same way. I'v replaced both rear cables but not the single cable that attaches to the handle. My pads are also in good shape, although not brand new. Haven't been able to figure it out as it's supposed to be a self adjusting system??

for the MTX's they wear differently than for ATXs I think. With my old Toyota tercel I broke the handbrake (the cable disconnected from the lever) and all I did wsa pull it up for fun while driving. Check the integrity of the cable and the hand brake lever. If it's brittle might wanna consider replacing with a junkyard version. Also try to check the tension between them and see if it's loose.
