Hi all.

A buddy of mine is hosting the Midwest Thunder 5th Annual Benefit Car/Truck Show. When he was planning the first one, to help raise funds for his mother and others being treated for cancer, his mother passed away so the show became a memorial show but he still gives the procedes to local cancer patients. I've been to two of the first four (always seemed to conflict with the SLAP show in Schaumburg in the past) and it is a good show.

Here are the particulars copied from their show flier:

August 20, 2006
Chautauqua Park
Pontiac,IL

Registration Fee At Gate: $15.00
Registration Time: 8:00am - 12:00pm (SHARP) / Trophies at 4:00pm

Door Prizes / Music by: JD's DJ Service / 50/50 Drawing /

Rain or Shine

Anyone wanting to go to this?

I'll be there. Should be a beautiful day in the park with a lot of nice cars.

What a beautiful day for a show. We parked under some trees (as were most vehicles) to keep the direct sun off us. There were over 130 vehicles entered (I was #98 and there was 90 minutes left to register when we got there). There were a lot of really good cars there, not many dogs at all.

I am not sure how many were in my class (Original/Restored 1991-1999), but there were at least 4. I could still be in original because they let you have up to 5 modifications before forcing you into the modified class.

They handed out a few "fun" awards during the day just for grins, and I got best audio/video system at the show. Then when they did the class awards, I took 1st place in that too. They had trophies for 1st-3rd in each class and I know of at least one car in my class that didn't get called up for a trophy.

They also give out 2 Best-of-Show trophies (one for original and one modified) that were 7'6" tall. They also had some other "best-of" caption awards too, but we didn't stick around for those.

I would highly recommend this as possibly a group meet next year. Pontiac is not that far from Chicagoland, just off I-55. Brett always has really good goodie bags for registrants and lots of door prizes and raffles. They did a 50/50 drawing to raise money for the charity and the winner got like $240 (wasn't me...).
