yeah, yeah I got here way to early for my 1:15 flight to West Palm Beach Florida .... so I got nothin better to do
I figured I would get the full security search for buying tickets this morning for the flight but I printed my boarding passes out and I just about walked right through
anyone travel recently and know what the air puffing machines are about, all I can say at the moment is weird, but I figure it is like a pat down with out contact ...

I'm pretty sure they puff you for particles contained in explosives and stuff.
So the machine sniffs it afterward.

that's the basic funtion. it is supposed to shake loose small particles of "contaminants" like explosive dust, but they use it to track drugs too.

That's what I've heard as well. My wife was in NYC a few weeks ago and went out to Ellis Island, they have one there too.

I think they're a pretty cool use of technology. We have been able to detect certain airborne things for years and finally they put it to good use.
I have been through them and it is wierd but I think its workth it if you're going to catch someone who is going to do something stupid.

was going to post from tampa but i couldn't get the internet to work..... West Palm Beach is cooler temp wise then CT  so i got a convertable to enjoy it
