I have a car that the head it taking off of that i need to set the timing on. All I need to do it bring the number 1 cylinder all the way to the top? then set the camshafts level with a piece of metal in the groves?

already read it. i get the idea, just wondering if all i need to do is move the #1 cylinder to the top and then the head can go on. i cant read the marks on my crankshaft pulley.
