Ok. Heres a dumb question. Which dipstick should I use? I currently have a 3.0 sable in, but the head broke off and it needs replaced. Will the 2.5 dipstick give an accurate reading in the 3.0 using the most updated oil pan? If not is there another that I should use.

You could drain all the oil and put in the recommended amount and then check the stick to see if it reads accurately. If not make your own MAX mark on the stick.

I used the 2.5L dipstick and it was accurate.

I would say use the dipstick that correalates to the pan you use. 3L pan...3l dipstick 2.5 pan...2.5 dipstick.

What about the updated oil pan? Will the stock dipstick measure the oil level accurately with the updated pan?

There are 3-4 different dipsticks out there IIRC ... let Bill Jenkins know the oil pan part # and he can get the correct dipstick/tube assembly for that pan.

Just make sure you use the dipstick and it's tube as a matched set.

I used the set from my 5/02 Taurus engine and it is accurate. 6qts shows just cresting the full notch.
