Autozone doesnt know it exists, and NAPA wants $60 EACH for it. Because of the price, Im not sure what they have is what I want. The rubber is all torn up on mine, and I want to install my strut caps.

Anyone have a part # handy so I can go to Ford tomorrow and get a pair? My local Ford guy is an idiot, and doesnt know how (or just too lazy) to look up parts.

That almost looks like a thrust bearing (uhhh I think). I haven't had the contours suspension apart in years though so I can't recall how things are.

Number 2 is the metal plate on top of the strut tower with the rubber ring around it. It has one nut on top of it, and one nut below.

But ya, i would say Bill J or junkyard.

Edit: fordparts.com shows the retainer for $6.82 with a MSRP of $9.28...dont know if that includes the rubber thing...never know with these kinds of things.
