I just bought a 99SVT. It seems to stutter a little bit upon acceleration. I checked the computer today. the codes were: 2 Cylinder 5 Misfires, EGR Flow Insufficient, and Bank 1 Was Lean. I dont know what to look at to solve this.

At a minimum, you need to post exact codes. Or we will just be guessing

P0305
P0401/0402
P0171

And the guesses would be P0305 Check/change spark plugs, wires and ignition coil.

P0401/0402 Clean EGR and check/change DPFE sensor

P0171 Check for broken/leaking hoses, gaskets. Spray carb cleaner while idling and if idle changes, you found the leak.

Edit. EGR system.

Check/Change the Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) sensor. This sensor is also known as EGR Backpressure transducer and clean EGR

Ok well today I replaced the Spark Plugs with Autolite XP104's. It appears to run better. I also took the egr valve off, it appears to be recently replaced and working correctly. I started the car up and vacuum is present at idle. So my question is vacuum for the EGR valve supposed to be constantly on and increasing with engine speed, or is my EGR Soleniod malfunctional?

Did you test the DPFE sensor?

You should NOT have vacuum to the EGR solenoid in your driveway or garage.

Remove the top off the EVR solenoid and clean/check the filter element under the cover. If this doesn't correct the vacuum problem, replace the EVR solenoid, reset the PCM, and rerun the PCM Quick Test to see what remaining problems are present. Based on your symptoms previously posted, you've just started.

Well My hope now is that the plugs will have stopped the misfiring, my wires appear to be good. And im thinking now that the lean condition and egr problem are related, because if the EGR is constantly dumping air, then it would cause the car to run lean. So if i correct the EGR problem hopefully I will have ended my problems.

You will still have to deal with the P0401 which cannot be explained under your hypothesis.

Well after reading on the forum the P0171 can be caused by an inoperative EGR valve. If I remember correctly I sucked on the egr valve and the engine did not stumble indicating the valve is clogged or broken. So tomorrow I will be cleaning the EGR passages and checking the solenoid. Funny thing is when I asked the guy i bought the car from (also a ford mechanic) he said nothing was wrong with the car.

Also How do i rerun ECM quick test?
