Carpe, Ive wanted to do something like that, and I think your best bet would be to move he Hvac down below where the radio sits, and do a fiberglass bezel in that area. It would be sweet to move the HVAC knobs to the tray under the ebrake

Yeah, thats what I was planning, that or getting the pre-98 center console and moving the HVAC into that.. I dont know. I'm perfectly happy with my CDA-9835.

My ultimate plans are to obtain a pre-98 (or Mondeo... if it fits) console and put a 7" touch screen in front of the shifter.
Eventually will build a carputer in there with it's outputs going to my Pioneer HU's AUX input. That way I keep a "normal" audio system in the car for when I don't wanna run the computer.
...Or I'll probly cheap out and buy an Ipod+connector and jack it into my CD player...
