So as i said earlier I'm building a hybrid, '01 3.0L Escape bottom end with rebuilt '98 2.5L SVT heads. All the information i've found on the site talks about using all the 2.5L timing components(chain, sprockets, tensioner arms, chain guides) But on the 3.0L block I have, it doesn't have the 2 dowels that the 2.5L tensioner arms pivot on. So i'm wondering if i should use all the 2.5L timing components except to substitute in the 3.0L tensioner arms and chain guides.

You use the timing components of the cams.

Such as...SVT cams? Use the SVT timing components

Using 3L cams? Use the 3L timing components

I don't know what you mean by the 2.5 stuff doesn't fit on the block...because it should.

i'm saying that the 3.0L block i have doesn't have the pins that the 2.5L tensioning arms pivot on. I'm kinda stumped, I thought all Duratec bottom ends had the same architecture.

IIRC, the pivot dowels for the guides / tensioners are actually located on the heads, not the block. That's why your block doesn't have them.
