I know it's underneath, somewhere by the firewall. Any more specific directions?

Thanks.

EVAP (emissions) or "evap" A/C for water?

Emissions

Look for the green EVAP service port near the coil. It should be on the line that comes out of the VMV which is mounted to the firewall. If no VMV, no EVAP monitor system.

Note that the 96 does have a Vapor Management Valve by the firewall. There just isn't a EVAP service port (with green cap) near the ignition coil. You should be able to see it below the ignition coil (for the Duratec) It is round with a black regulator on top of it. The black regulator looks like the EGR vacuum regulator (EVR) next to the IAC valve.

There is no water on anything else I could see, and it just appears to magically pop into the middle of the floorboard. Ideas?

Probably A/C drain pipe plugged. Check under the firewall under the car. There is a "tube" running out from the firewall. Turn on the A/C to max and see if any water is dripping from the "tube". If water isn't dripping, you know it is plugged up.

Big Jim mentioned in a previous post in the ARCHIVES-PROBLEMS that it could be a plugged A/C drain and the drain runs in the firewall. You need to go under the car to find it just above the exhaust. You may want to clean out the undersides first as it is difficult to find the drain. He used a coathanger wire to clear the drain and you shouldn't push in more than an inch for fear of damaging the insides.

Thanks. Yup I meant A/C. I checked the water - it's there (on my garage's floor) right after A/C was on. I am just trying to eliminate the "gym socks" problem caused by mold on evap core. I don't even think about getting to the heather/evap core for any spraying purposes - I am not into disassembling the center console and all just for that - but I am thinking about pressured air cleaning of the drain.

There is a type of disinfectant that you can spray on the cabin air filter housing which clears that. IIRC, Advance or Autozone sells them. Big Jim used it in the past.

Edit. Lysol or "Odor Gun"

Thanks again.

P.S. Though I don't get it - how the air cabin filter spraying can cure the problem in the evap core?

Spray in the cabin air housing, hose (or tube) and vents to kill the mold and bacteria which is the cause of the smelly sock smell.

Think of the old Micatin (atheletes foot) commercials with the bacteria running all over.

Except that for the cabin air, it is Lysol or "Odor Gun".
