I recently bought a 98 Contour that has the 2.0L DOHC Zetec motor with 80,000 miles. The car had sat for approx. 9 months . The service engine light came on so I took it to Autozone and they read a P1380 code. They told me that this was an ignition fault and recommended a coil, wires and sparkplugs so I replaced all of them. While replacing the coil I disconnected the battery. The light was out when I started it up and the car runs well but the light came back on after a couple miles.I have since found out that P1380 refers to the variable cam timing solenoid. My Haynes manual does not mention this solenoid.Does anyone know where it located and how to check it?

Check to make sure it is pluged in good. Also look at the wires and make sure they are not naked and touching. Here is a link that explains the VCT solenoid.

Tony2005 and DC1000 thanks for the input.
Other than a slightly rough idle the the car makes a 90 highway miles commute every day without a problem.I will try to check the VCT solenoid this weekend.
