First off Goonz let me say this...you lucky SOB I'm one of the few here that proudly waves the ZO6 over the Ford GT for MANY reason and I will not go into them here (unless prevoked ). Your work on that car is VERY nice and I bet he's going to be VERY happy with it. Now as far as the wax not sticking, well, the only thing I think of if humidity. You also said something about not being able to get all the way inside the wheels because of how deep they are, well I've got a solution for you. The next time your at the supermarket or grocery store look for a wool duster. Its the one you'd normally use to clean furniture with, but its make out of wool so it easy to clean and will last you some time I may have detailed a Z8 that cost double the price of the ZO6, but I envy the hell out of you for sure Are you planning on doing this a bit more on the side

well today was a beautiful 85 degree weather with very little humidity, plus I had the fan on in the garage cause i was sweating like pig. He told me that is ok if I didnt get the wheels all clean cause he was gonna swap them with the other set so he woulda just cleaned them then, but still I got 90% of all the dirt out. Oh he was head over heels, he was like "WOW just the way i got it from the show room, even better"..lol
and yes I do plan on doing this more as a side thing on my days off from work..

I drove one, mine was louder. Just around the parking lot at work. Interior is gorgeous. One mornring I come into work and waiting for service is an s500, Viper, Vette, and later in the day an SL 55. And I have driven all of those cars for various lengths ranging from 50 to 1000 ft.

Wait till the ZO7 comes out There was pics of it in one of my latest car mags, lets just say it looks alot like a "street version" of the LeMans Corvette, right down to the brake vents on top of the front fenders, rims and air intakes in the rear. Its also got an "enlarged" 7.0L w/ a S/C-er...putting down 650 hp SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long Ford GT, nice seeing you again

I love it... they've done what I've always dreamed to the Vette.. no more ridiculous overhanging proportions, better fit and finish, better styling, non-flip up lights... that thing is gorgeous.. and mean, yet still a decently economical car for what it is!
Why do people have to goof on the Ford GT, though? That was designed years ago to be a limited run supercar, not dominate everything ever to be manufactured by another car company for the rest of eternity. It served it's purpose and then some.
If Ford wanted to they could slap the Vettes around silly with the GT (and if you don't think so you're kidding yourself), so I don't know what all the hate is about toward the GT. It's obviously more of a race car platform than the Vette when it comes down to it, so why call it a POS when it is a superior machine, just with power output that's now out of date.

i'd take a ZO6 over almost any car on the market (within price range) -- Vette's drive extremely nice (ex-girlfriends father used to have one and let me take it out every now and then--) -- I never used to like them, but after driving one it definetly swayed my opinion

Is he just gonna use those tires for autox? He shouldda got the a6 compound if so. I imagine he can afford some real track days though, and the r6 will be better suited to that.
In any case, nice car.

They open up at a certain RPM IIRC and from what I have heard the ZO6 guys have found a way to open them manualy now with a switch of some sort.
Loud is a matter of opinion...the sound is incredible to say the least.
Awesome job Goonz...that thing looks like it's dripping wet, absolutely beautiful

The exhaust valves are probably something alone the lines of what Yamaha has been doing for years on their motorcycles (theirs is called ex-up). If they work on the same principals, they stay closed at low RPMs to increase TQ and open up at some point for more free flow adding HP up top.
FWIW, proper aftermarket exhausts have always shown better gains than the "valved" exhausts.

No way. Armor All is garbage - given what it does to the interior, why would you want to use it on any part of your car?
What "color" does a clear headlight have? A nice sealant to prevent hazing and flaking of UV coating is what is needed. It will outlast AA easily.
If you want to apply a greasey, filmy, dust attracting product that doesn't last <shrug>. As long as you're happy. AA doens't touch any part of any car I detail.

If you think Meguairs Gold class is some good stuff (Which it is) Try the Meguairs NXT... I used that stuff on my car, Mmmmm, the interior cleaner is wonderful, my dash shines so beautifully. The wheels are clean, and the paint looks beautiful from the Meguairs NXT Paste wax.

IIRC, I think some Chevy's (maybe GM's for that matter) had the Vesco paint protection option....i know our friend has it on his cobalt ss. Maybe that's why the wax wasn't sticking?? (my boyfriend works on chevy's...that's the only reason why i posted this )

Well done Goonz, well done! Oh, and I'm not an Armor All hater, but I don't understand using it on headlights. They're glass, right? If I get Armor All on my windshield, it's a PITA to get off without streaking. Mark

I only use it on headlights and tails..thats all..I gives it a nice finish. I have always used it on my headlights and my parents. When i applied it on the Z06, the headlight was sparkling so much so that you can see itty bitty rainbow hues on it...it almost looked clear..this is how i do it, some of u may not agree but ah well..everyone uses different techniques..

i saw something like that on trucks once, but it was basically a dump that would bypass the mufflers completely, making it a straight pipe basically.
And FWIW, i don't think there's any sacrifice in performance for the setup on the vette!

Exhaust cutouts are a bit different from normal valved units.
Pretty cool though.

I should have clarified. The Yamaha design and the system on the vette are not cut-outs, merely blockages in the actual exhaust pipe.
Cut-outs are different for obvious reasons.

Have I ever mentioned that Corvettes are my favorites cars ever
well as I said the car is very loud, in the garage, my mother came running out scared not knowing wtf is going on cause the whole house was reverberating
I was never really a fan of american sports/super cars..untill I saw a Z06 in person and boy was i in love with it..very sexy car..Not everyday you get the honor of detailing a Z06 and better yet drive one

What products did you use?
Same Meguiars Gold Class..Mothers Power Ball for the rims to polish the al(one L only)uminum up..Armor All the heaDlights so they are glossy and clean..Mothers Chrome polish for the tips..thats prettty much it..and basic interior stuff..
wait till the armor all nazi's see this
I'll leave the AA trash talking to Pete (I do agree with him though). I did get a little twitchy when I first read that! I'll stick to correcting the spelling! Fixed!
If you are going to fix spelling, fix ALL the spelling! FIXED
I've used Armor All on tail and headlights (plastic) before. I think it works fine. I do use it on dashboards here and there as well.
Beautiful car,I didn't really like the vette either until the new one came out.ALUMINIUM.BTW on plastic lenses long term use of armor all will increase hazing.Wax is the way to go,since most plastic headlights have a clearcoat type protector on them.

you should put it as your wallpaper too, so you can see it more often than just as the screen saver.

well the Z06 is due for another detail job next week. The front end is in very very bad shape due to all the cones from auto-x
now you guy will hate me even more..he's leaving for London next week and he said that he'll just leave the car to me..let me say that again..
