I totalled my Contour in a rollover and the engine wouldn't start afterwards. Where can I find the inertia switch? I want to start the car and see if the engine/trans are in good shape to determine if I want to do a buy-back from the insurance company. Thanks guys!

Fuel cut off switch is located in the interior. drivers side, left hand footwell, about even with the "door ding" switch (only.. not in the door space, but in the foot well space.)
It is to the LEFT (driver's side) of the OBD-II plug. Look for a small round cutout in the plastic molding, and you'll see the button in there.

10-4 thanks ... I will keep everyone updated in my other thread (the one in my signature) concerning this car. If they allow me to start the car (it wasn't leaking anything when they towed it), I'm seriously going to consider buying it back to pull the engine/trans and some interior stuff.
Thanks again for the cutoff switch info!

If it is in their impound lot, I doubt they will say yes if you ask for permission to start the car. If you just want to retrieve some personal belongings, then I am sure they are fine with that....... (know where I am heading? ).....
They are probably afraid that it will start leaking the moment you push the Inertia Switch.

After hitting the reset switch in mine, I drove it up and down the block with no problems other than being able to see out of the windshield.
