Whats everyones deal with the amp being mounted upside down.
Well, because heat rises and your heat sink and vents are on the top of the amp. Thats great that your amp has not melted itself. Maybe your amp doesn't get very hot??
Maybe they have enough airflow back there?
I know my Super Cool Neat-O 99 series RF 15" 8ohm 150W RMS sub will overheat my 300W RMS @ 4ohm (so ~150W @ 8ohm) MTX amp in the summer, which is mounted to the side of the box.
What it does, is the sub will just cut out after a while with the Power LED still on (doesn't have a protect LED). Amp is burning-your-fingers hot at this point, which leads me to believe it's overheated. After about 5 minutes, it will cut back on.
Of course, it doesn't overheat nearly as much as when the stuff was in my non-folding seat 96 GL... Guess the folding seats allow plenty of air to get in the trunk, especially since I drive with the windows/sunroof open most of the time when it's nice outside... I love fresh air!
...ok, real reason is my A/C condenser has a hole in it
